The Republic of Ireland have asked FIFA to be the 33rd team at the world cup. They were knocked out in the play-offs due to a handball by Henry. When Sepp Blatter (the FIFA president) was told about this, he laughed at Ireland. This is just cruel. Ireland have been robbed and all FIFA can do is laugh at them. The only FIFA men with importance that I respect are Platini and Beckenbaur. With Blatter, football is becoming a politician's game.

    Not sure I share your respect for Platini. If he had his way English clubs would be granted fewer places in Europe while French clubs would be granted more, despite the latters' extremely poor track record in European club football over the decades. The politics of envy. Nothing irritates a Frenchman more than English success. They are about to regulate the City of London out of existence. I digress.
