Rio Ferdinand, we're all behind you (but the media are following every move you make):
Rio Ferdinand is the new captain of England after John Terry had a brief meeting with Fabio Capello and was stripped of the England captaincy. Rio Ferdinand, his partner in defence is the new captain, while Gerrard is the vice captain. Rooney is presumably the number 3.

  1. There is a very distinct possibility that Rio Ferdinand will not be going to South Africa this summer. There's a growing belief that he is in poor nick, physically. The longer he remains out of action, the greater the risk he becomes.

Step forward Steven Gerrard, your time has come young master.
